Organization

Tools for keeping your research organized with projects, sheet management, and Drive folder structure.

Projects

Organize research into named campaigns — by niche, client, or topic.

Access: Menu → My Projects

Create a Project

  1. Click Create Project in the Projects dialog
  2. Enter a name (e.g., “Tech Niche Q1”) and optional description
  3. Optionally create a separate spreadsheet for this project
  4. Click Create

Set Active Project

Click Set Active on any project. All new research sheets will automatically associate with the active project. The active project name shows in the add-on homepage subtitle.

What You Can Do

Action Description
Set Active All new research associates with this project
Archive Moves project to Archives/Year/Projects folder in Drive
Delete Permanently removes the project record
View Stats See sheet count and types (videos, channels, creators, analytics, tracking)

Sheet types are auto-detected based on content, so you don’t need to manually tag anything.

Sheet & Drive Management

Drive Folder Structure

The Setup Wizard creates this folder structure in your Google Drive:

YouTube Research Tool/
├── Projects/ Project-specific files
├── Archives/ Archived sheets, organized by year
   └── 2026/
       └── Projects/
└── Reports/ AI analysis exports (Google Docs)

To open your research folder anytime: Menu → Settings → Organize Folders, or use the Open Research Folder button in the Setup Wizard.

Sheet Archiving

Move old research sheets out of your active spreadsheet to keep things clean.

Access: Menu → Settings → Sheet Management

  1. The dialog previews sheets eligible for archiving
  2. Select which sheets to archive
  3. Click Archive — sheets are copied to a separate spreadsheet in your Archives folder (organized by year), then removed from the active workbook

Smart Sheet Naming

Research sheets are automatically named with:
Type prefix — indicates what kind of research (e.g., video discovery, channel analytics)
Date stamp — when the research was run
Color-coded tabs — different colors for different research types
Organized positioning — new sheets are placed in a logical tab order
